Reflections on My Experience as a Teaching Assistant in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution

After the challenges brought on by COVID-19, I had the unique opportunity to become a teaching assistant for the SMU graduate class in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution. Over ten semesters, I supported my peers’ learning and deepened my understanding of the subject.

This experience allowed me to engage with diverse students, each bringing their perspectives and backgrounds to the table. It was gratifying to facilitate discussions, host study sessions, and help students navigate complex negotiation scenarios. The classroom became a vibrant space for exploring various strategies and resolving disputes, with real-world applications that resonated with all of us.

Through this role, I honed my negotiation skills and developed a passion for teaching and mentoring. It has been a fulfilling journey, and I look forward to seeing how my experiences will shape my path in the future. Sharing knowledge and witnessing personal growth in others has been a highlight of my academic career.
